PROSPECTIVE COMPARATIVE STUDY ON EFFICACY OF IV FENTANYL VERSUS FEMORAL NERVE BLOCK FOR POSITIONING PRIOR TO SUBARACHNOID BLOCK IN PATIENTS UNDERGOING FRACTURE FEMUR SURGERIES.
Fracture femur is a common orthopaedic problem following trauma in patients of all ages. Fracture femur is particularly painful bone injury because the periosteum has the lowest pain threshold of the deep somatic structures. These patients generally being elderly with multiple comorbidities are likely to have many undesirable effects of opioids including respiratory depression and confusion.
