Investigations on hardness and tensile behavior of micron boron carbide particles reinforced Al5052 alloy composites
This experimental research examined the tensile and microstructural behaviour of the Al5052 metal alloy with 4 and 8 wt. % of B4C composites. The analytical methodologies employed in this study involve the liquid metallurgical procedure for fabricating the Al5052 alloy with 4 and 8 weight percent B4C particle composites. This analysis employed additional techniques, such as EDS and SEM, to ascertain the microstructural behaviour. This research adheres to ASTM Standards to investigate the mechanical properties of Al5052 alloy reinforced with B4C composites. Furthermore, the integration of B4C particles into Al5052 exhibits exceptional properties in composite materials, hence augmenting its potential applications. The amalgamation of various materials enhanced the composites' hardness and tensile strength. The tensile fractured surfaces revealed both brittle and ductile fracture modes in the Al5052- B4C composites.
