Influence of the control of anthropometric parameters on the evolution of the clinical profile of a cohort of diabetic patients cared for at the Abidjan anti-diabetic center

Effective management of diabetes must be based both on dietary measures (diet and physical activity) and medication prescriptions (insulin and/or oral antidiabetics). However, hygienic and dietary measures remain a cornerstone of treatment. The general objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of the balance of BMI and waist circumference on the metabolic and clinical parameters of patients. To do this, the socioeconomic characteristics of patients treated at the Abidjan anti-diabetic center (CADA) were first determined. The level of compliance with hygienic and dietary measures and the evolution of morpho-anthropometric, metabolic, biological parameters and the clinical profile of patients since the start of treatment were evaluated. The results showed that the majority of patients surveyed were aged between 40 and 65 years (78.5%) and were female (76.9%).Many them (93.8%) had benefited from therapeutic nutritional education, especially in groups (87.7%) and very few (04.6%) admitted to strictly following these recommendations.Half of the patients (50.08%) regularly practiced physical activity for a duration of 60 to 120 min (36.4%),30 to 60 min (27.3%) or 10 to 30 min. After various control examinations carried out, very few patients saw their BMI (06.2%) and waist circumference (03.1%) decrease with metabolic parameters remaining stable or having Influence of the.
