Combined effects of mineral fertilization and compost on the physicochemical properties of the soil and on the productivity of sorghum in the eastern zone of Burkina Faso

In 2020, sorghum cultivation occupied 55% of the total area sown with cereals and is the leading cereal crop in the eastern region of Burkina Faso. However, the continuous decline in soil fertility leads to a decrease in yields of this cereal from year to year. Therefore, the search for alternatives accessible to producers appears to be a necessity through a harmonious management of soil fertility in this part of Burkina Faso.In order to contribute to the understanding of the issues related to the improvement of sorghum productivity, a study was conducted in a peasant environment in the commune of Fada N'Gourma in eastern Burkina Faso. The experimental design used was a split-plot with nine (09) treatments and four (04) repetitions. The highest available K value comes from the T7 treatment with 66.35 mg.ha -1 soil. For the assimilable P, the highest content comes from the T8 treatment Combined effects
