Design and Development of MahaDict for Low-Level Maharashtra State Language (Gondi WordNet)
This paper places emphasis on the development of a WordNet for Gondi language. This will be a comprehensive lexical database. The aim of this project is to provide a tool for learning Gondi. The WordNet will include semantic relations between words such as hypernyms, and hyponyms contained within synset(s) used to describe various concepts. This paper will help in understanding the methodology for creating WordNet, various challenges in building the database, limited resource availability, and barriers to direct translation of words into English. This will act as a translation from English to Gondi and vice versa, providing ease of accessibility for non-Gondi speakers as well as help Gondi people get exposure to the modern world. This will also help in preserving the language and make it widely accessible.
