Structural-semantic and functional specifics of automotive terminology in German marketing texts

This article is devoted to the study of German automotive terminology in structural-semantic and functional aspects, since the specified lexical area, being a means of fixation reflecting the content of the professional sphere of communication, is constantly updated and intensively developed. The aim of the research is to identify the special vocabulary of automotive topics functioning in media texts with a marketing component. In addition, the authors reveal the typological features of these denominations. The scientific novelty of the research is manifested in the fact that automotive terminological concepts have been comprehensively systematized and described for the first time based on the material of publications in a German automotive journal. As a result, it was revealed that substantive composite formations are currently a relevant means of nomination in the automotive terminology system of the modern German language, since they denote complex concepts and the relationships between them in a holistically structured word-formational form. Among the words conveying professional and technical knowledge related to the automotive industry, both narrowly specialized definitions and units that have lost their professional interpretation and have acquired the status of terms of broad use can be distinguished.
