Formation ability of amorphous nanoparticles with high Li content as solid electrolyte synthesized by RF induction thermal plasma

Abstract The formation ability of amorphous nanoparticles with high Li content synthesized by RF induction thermal plasma was investigated based on the synthesis of amorphous Li 5 AlO 4 nanoparticles. Amorphous Li 5 AlO 4 nanoparticles were synthesized by RF induction thermal plasma successfully the first time. The formation mechanism was investigated based on thermodynamic analysis and experiment results. Effects of different quenching rates and Li/Al molar ratios were understood. Enhanced quenching rate and Li/Al molar ratio promote [AlO 6 ] octahedrons transform to [AlO 4 ] tetrahedrons, benefiting amorphous Li 5 AlO 4 to be generated. The formation ability of amorphous nanoparticles with high Li content was studied systematically from the structure and chemical composition. The amorphous structure is more easily achieved by the system with strong bond strength. Short co-condensation time allows products to own uniform chemical composition. Simple transformation of structure units contributes to target material synthesis.
