An accessible method to measure corneal sensitivity
Corneal sensitivity serves as a crucial indicator of long ciliary nerves (the 1st branch of trigeminal nerve) innervating cornea. Accurate assessment of corneal sensitivity (corneal esthesiometry) plays a cruсial role in the diagnosis, assessment, and management of neurotrophic keratopathy. Nonetheless, no one of previously proposed methods of corneal esthesiometry is free of shortcomings. Due to this fact, we present another attempt to develop an easy and affordable approach to corneal esthesiometry and reveal normal range for corneal sensitivity. Key words: esthesiometry, corneal esthesiometry, aesthesiometer, neurotrophic keratopathy
