Third-Order Quadrature Sinusoidal Oscillator: A Novel Application of Second-Generation Voltage Conveyor
Among various modern active building blocks, second-generation voltage conveyor (VCII) has previously been used to realize a variety of functions. However, use of VCII in the realization of quadrature sinusoidal oscillator of third order has not been known previously. This paper has filled this gap by introducing an innovative circuit arrangement for third-order quadrature sinusoidal oscillator, utilizing three VCIIs, three grounded capacitors along with five resistors. The suggested circuit offers several characteristic features, such as (i) the availability of quadrature output voltages, (ii) complete decoupling of oscillation frequency (FO) and condition of oscillation (CO), (iii) availability of output voltages at a low output impedance node for easy cascadability and (iv) utilization of three grounding capacitors required for IC implementation. The paper also includes analyses for non-ideal behavior, and sensitivity of the proposed TOQSO circuit. PSPICE simulations with CMOS VCII[Formula: see text] implemented in [Formula: see text]m CMOS TSMC technology have been presented to support the feasibility of the proposed third-order quadrature sinusoidal oscillator circuit configuration.
