Quando cuore e cervello sono connessi: ictus ischemico secondario a mixoma atriale sinistro
The paper reports the case of a 17-year-old girl, apparently healthy, who presented to the Emergency Department with syncope, visual disturbances and vertigo during a walk. Neurological symptoms prompted an MRI, revealing subacute cerebellar ischemic lesions. After ruling out common stroke causes, an echocardiogram identified a left atrial mass, later confirmed as a cardiac myxoma. The patient underwent minimally invasive surgical removal with a favourable outcome. This case highlights the importance of considering cardiac sources, such as atrial myxoma, in the differential diagnosis of paediatric ischemic stroke.
