Textile Sensory Array for Accurate, Long-Lasting, and Reliable Position and Wide-Range Pressure Detection

The study presents the development of a reliable and stable textile sensory unit that integrates a piezoresistive surface for wide-range pressure detection in smart textiles. Leveraging the intrinsic flexibility of textile materials, the system aims to provide precise detection while maintaining an imperceptible textile surface. Key challenges include achieving reproducibility and cost-effectiveness, as well as integrating the system into garments and accessories without compromising user comfort and breathability. The design consists of three interchangeable layers forming a soft, thin assembly adaptable to various surfaces. Although current systems offer some flexibility, they are often insufficiently tested under high-force and prolonged stress conditions. This research seeks to develop an evaluation method to compare the electrical performance and stability of different textile techniques that compose the active material. It demonstrates the reliability and stability of the system under repeated use, aiming to create a discreet, universal, and versatile detection solution with advanced capabilities.
