Intraoperative induction of posterior vitreous detachment as a stage of surgical treatment of variousvitreoretinal pathologies: history and current aspects of the problem
Purpose. Analysis of domestic and foreign literature on the methodof intraoperative induction of posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) asa stage of surgical treatment of various vitreoretinal pathology. Thisreview presents the development of the method from the momentof the first vitreal interventions to modern high-tech methods of theposterior hyaloid membrane detachment. Material and methods. Toobtain a posterior vitreous detachment during the surgery, mechanical, chemical, hydrodynamic methods are used with or without a varietyof dyes. However, it is not always possible to achieve detachment ofthe posterior hyaloid membrane during the intervention. Results. Publications available in the literature allow us to conclude that manyof the proposed techniques for initiating of PVD as a stage of surgicaltreatment of various vitreoretinal pathology, despite their diversity, havenot solved the indicated problem. Conclusion. The review has shownthat the search for new safe and effective methods of intraoperativeinduction of PVD remains an urgent task.
