A Circularly Polarized Leaky-Wave Antenna based on SIW for Beam Scanning Applications
This paper presents a leaky-wave antenna (LWA) on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) with circular polarization (CP) at Ku band. The proposed CP LWA is designed by placing exponential-tapered fan slots on top of a SIW along with periodical metal vias to overcome the open stopband (OSB) effect. Simulated results have revealed that the proposed antenna possesses the capability of continuous beam scanning from -18° to +7° with the 3dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth of 14% (13.9-16 GHz). Realized gain variation is between 9.2 dB and 11.48 dB.
