Reconfigurable Low RCS Antenna Using a Ring-Shaped Ferrite Rod Array
In this paper, we propose a reconfigurable lower RCS antenna that is implemented using a ring-shaped ferrite rod array and a line source. Operating in microwave frequencies, the antenna shows a good directional radiation in two frequency bands, and the working frequencies could be tuned by the bias magnetic field. Compared to antennas with metallic ring-shaped array, our antenna exhibits a much smaller RCS. We also show that tuning the bias magnetic field does not alter the radiation pattern or RCS characteristics, and the radiation pattern could be reconfigured by the different ways of magnetization. Some of these results are validated through experiments. Our study presents a new way to achieve antennas with lower RCS and tunable capability.
