Systems of Smart Load Management for More Electrical Aircraft

In recent years, More Electric Aircraft (MEA) concepts have garnered significant attention due to their potential to enhance efficiency and reduce emissions in the aviation industry. However, this transition has also introduced significant challenges in power management. With the replacement of traditional hydraulic and pneumatic systems by electric systems, the management of electrical loads has become more complex. The need for smart load management is crucial to ensure uninterrupted power to critical systems while optimizing energy efficiency and enhancing system reliability. This paper presents an innovative smart load management system designed to improve the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of MEA power distribution networks. The proposed system is equipped with sensors for continuous monitoring of voltage, current, and power, integrating a battery, generators, loads, switches, and relays. It incorporates advanced control mechanisms such as real-time load prioritization and dynamic reconfiguration. The system ensures the continuous and optimal distribution of loads, monitors the health status of generators, and transfers loads to backup power sources when necessary to maintain system stability. Simulation results demonstrate that the system outperforms traditional load management techniques in terms of power utilization, response time, and overall system stability. These results validate the potential of smart load management systems to support the scalability and sustainability of MEA architectures, providing a roadmap for future advancements in aviation electrification.
