Arbitrary Near Field Measurement with Robotic Arm

This paper presents a near field antenna test setup that uses an anthropomorphic robotic arm to move the near field probe. Its main advantage with respect to traditional near-field positioners is that it allows to scan a surface of planar, cylindrical or spherical shape. The key features of such a test setup and its versatility are depicted. Finally, some measurement results obtained with such a setup are shown.

Abstract

This paper presents a near field antenna test setup that uses an anthropomorphic robotic arm to move the near field probe. Its main advantage with respect to traditional near-field positioners is that it allows to scan a surface of planar, cylindrical or spherical shape. The key features of such a test setup and its versatility are depicted. Finally, some measurement results obtained with such a setup are shown.
