A Planar Ring Shaped Antenna for 5G Sub-6 GHz Applications

This paper presents a planar antenna having a ring shape for sub- 6 GHz applications. The proposed antenna has been designed on a $25 \mathrm{~mm} \times 38.28 \mathrm{~mm} \times 1.6 \mathrm{~mm}$ FR-4 glass epoxy substrate. It consists of the intersection of two circulars of different diameters, forming a ring shape. The presented antenna offers a gain of 3 dB and can cover a working frequency band from 3.08 GHz to 4.32 GHz. The design simulations have been performed using ANSYS HFSS software, analyzing S-parameters, current distributions, 3D radiation patterns, 2D radiation patterns in $\mathbf{x y}$, yz and xz planes and gains in working frequencies, especially for Australian commercial 5 G sub- 6 GHz band at $3.5 \mathrm{GHz}, 3.6 \mathrm{GHz}$, and 3.7 GHz.
