Adaptive Omnidirectional Collinear Array of Bicones

An adaptive omnidirectional vertically polarized collinear phased array of bicone elements is investigated with simulations and measurements in the 2.7 GHz to 2.9 GHz band. The array has four individually driven elements to both steer the main beam in elevation and provide adaptive nulling degrees of freedom in order to suppress terrestrial interference or scattering from structures along the horizon. Simulations and measurements demonstrate that adaptive nulling can reduce the antenna radiation pattern over the full extent of the horizon, while steering the main beam in elevation.

Abstract

An adaptive omnidirectional vertically polarized collinear phased array of bicone elements is investigated with simulations and measurements in the 2.7 GHz to 2.9 GHz band. The array has four individually driven elements to both steer the main beam in elevation and provide adaptive nulling degrees of freedom in order to suppress terrestrial interference or scattering from structures along the horizon. Simulations and measurements demonstrate that adaptive nulling can reduce the antenna radiation pattern over the full extent of the horizon, while steering the main beam in elevation.
