Beam Coloring in Non-Regular Multibeam Antenna Coverage
Spectrum reuse plays a fundamental role in the economy of broadband satellite communication systems. In recent years, focus has been placed on the layout of the multibeam coverage to best meet the non-uniform traffic demand. In this respect, non-regular multibeam patterns offer additional flexibility and degrees of freedom that allow to increase the overall system throughput. Nonetheless, these patterns require new beam coloring methods that properly allocate the spectrum resources while limiting the mutual interference intrinsic to their non-regularity. Hence, the paper introduces an heuristic beam coloring algorithm for multibeam-antenna patterns.
