An Ultra-Wideband Low-Scattering Tightly-Coupled Dipole Array
An ultra-wideband low-scattering tightly coupled array based on the phase cancellation mechanism is presented in this paper. Three fundamental units with approximately opposite phases are optimized using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm to achieve low-scattering performance. The proposed array can achieve beam scanning up to 60° within the frequency range of 6 to 18 GHz in E-/H-plane, with almost no gain loss. Additionally, the monostatic radar cross-section reduction (RCSR) is more than 10 dB for cross-polarized wave incidence within the frequency range of 5.5 to 18.5 GHz, and the bistatic RCS in the specular direction also exhibits significant reduction under oblique incidences when compared to the reference array.
