Full-Metal Antennas Based on Magnified 3D Discrete Lenses for Narrow and Wide Field-of-View
This paper presents an overview on innovative and flexible radiating elements used in active communication systems, specifically designed to address different scenarios in space applications. The concept has been implemented through the design and prototyping of full-metal 3D discrete lenses employing Additive Manufacturing (AM) techniques. These systems offer the flexibility to adjust the ratio between the size and periodicity of the two radiative profiles to align with any Field-of-View (FoV), facilitating also functionalities such as multibeam scanning in all the directions, high-power handling, dual polarization and wide frequency bandwidth capabilities.
