Fire Risk Assessment with Scoring System Using Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy

Fire safety in buildings is crucial to prevent loss of lives and property damage. However, many buildings fail to prioritize adequate fire safety measures. This study develops a fire risk assessment model incorporating various fire safety attributes. Expert opinions, collected via a structured questionnaire, were analyzed to assign weights to fire risk parameters using the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP). The resulting scorecard, with eight categories and a maximum score of 2000, provides a systematic method for evaluating fire risks. The model was applied to a building block at the Islamic University of Science & Technology, Awantipora, J&K, demonstrating its practical application in assessing fire risks.
