Analysis of Electromagnetic Field Coupling to Airborne Cables with Varied Shielding Layer Termination Methods in a Reverberation Chamber

In this paper, the electromagnetic coupling to airborne cables under varied shielding layer (SL) termination methods in a reverberation chamber is investigated. By employing a combination of the reciprocity theorem and Monte Carlo simulations, the electromagnetic coupling to coaxial cable shield layers with different terminations is compared. The results indicate that optimal shielding effectiveness is achieved when the cable shield layer is grounded at both ends. Furthermore, resonance effects within the cabin influence the electromagnetic coupling of onboard cables, whereas the overall resonance effects of the aircraft have little impact on cables within the cavity. Therefore, in high-frequency scenarios, when shielded interconnect cables are employed in electronic equipment, it is recommended to ground the shield layers at both ends.
