Stepped circularly polarized magneto electric dipole antenna for wireless communication

In this paper, a circularly polarized magneto dipole antenna featuring a stepped structure and covering the n77 (3.3 - 3.8 GHz), n78 (3.4 - 3.6 GHz), and n79 (4.8 - 5.0 GHz) frequency bands is proposed, which can be utilized in 5G communication. The antenna possesses a simplistic structure, comprising four patches, six metal copper columns, and a dielectric plate. The antenna is fed by a microstrip wire, coupled via an H-shaped slot on the ground surface. The shape of the electric dipole and coupling slot is enhanced to generate circular polarization based on the traditional linearly polarized magnetoelectric dipole antenna. The antenna has an impedance bandwidth of 90.1% (2.16 GHz - 5.7 GHz) and a 3dB axial ratio bandwidth of 54.1% (2.87 GHz - 5 GHz). Moreover, the antenna maintains a stable gain within its operating band, with an average gain of 8.8 dBi and no more than 1dB fluctuation. The antenna demonstrates excellent right-handed circularly polarized radiation.
