Compact Dual-Polarized UWB Magnetoelectric Dipole Antenna with Edge Capacitive Loading
This paper presents a design for a compact ultra-wideband (UWB) dual-polarized magnetoelectric dipole antenna. By incorporating a vertical plate at the antenna’s edge to introduce capacitive coupling between the dipole arms, the impedance bandwidth is extended towards the low-frequency end. This results in a significant expansion of the antenna’s impedance bandwidth and a notable reduction in its electrical size. Additionally, the use of a box-shaped reflector enhances the broadside gain. The proposed design achieves an impressive bandwidth of $\mathbf{2 - 8 . 5} \mathbf{~ G H z}$ (VSWR $\lt \mathbf{2} .5$), fully covering the S and C bands. The antenna is exceptionally compact, measuring only 33 $\mathrm{m m} \times \mathrm{3 3 ~ m m} \times 19 \mathrm{mm}\left(0.22 \lambda_{L} \times 0.22 \lambda_{L} \times 0.13 \lambda_{L}\right)$, where $\lambda_{L}$ is the wavelength corresponding to the lowest operating frequency.
