Analysis of the effect of the unit size on the performance of the reflectarray under 1-bit phase quantization

In this paper, a sub-wavelength unit cell with 0.25 wavelength and a half-wavelength unit cell with 0.5 wavelength are proposed. In the same period size, two patchs of different size are used to achieve 180 degrees phase difference to simulate 1-bit quantized phase. Through the simulation and analysis of the array composed of different sizes of unit cells, it can be seen that the array composed of smaller sub-wavelength units has higher gain, sidelobe suppression and more accurate beam pointing ability.

Abstract

In this paper, a sub-wavelength unit cell with 0.25 wavelength and a half-wavelength unit cell with 0.5 wavelength are proposed. In the same period size, two patchs of different size are used to achieve 180 degrees phase difference to simulate 1-bit quantized phase. Through the simulation and analysis of the array composed of different sizes of unit cells, it can be seen that the array composed of smaller sub-wavelength units has higher gain, sidelobe suppression and more accurate beam pointing ability.
