Compact, Wideband Circularly Polarized Reconfigurable Dielectric Resonator Antenna
A wideband circularly polarized reconfigurable antenna based on dielectric resonator (DR) is developed in this paper. In order to obtain circular polarization (CP), the radiation of the partially shorted annular slot is excited. In this way, two orthogonal TE 1182| modes of the dielectric resonator can be further excited, thus realizing another circularly polarized mode. By loading the top metasurface, the two resonant modes are reasonably adjusted, and finally realized a broadband axial ratio bandwidth of $4.17-5.01 \mathrm{GHz}(18.3 \%)$. The size of the compact radiator is only $0.3 \lambda_{0} \times 0.3 \lambda_{0} \times 0.13 \lambda_{0}$. By symmetrically arranging two PIN diodes on the annular slot, the LHCP/RHCP states can be flexibly switched. Therefore, the antenna shows the great potential of C-band intelligent wireless and satellite communication.
