Novel Dual-Mode Cavity-Based D-Band Bandpass Filter with Controllable Transmission Zeros

The paper presents a D-band bandpass filter capable of independently controlling transmission zeros. An innovative dual-mode resonant cavity employing TE<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">101</inf> and TM<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">110</inf> resonance modes effectively suppresses upper and lower sidebands. This unique structure features one transmission zero and two poles, enabling control over resonant frequencies by adjusting different dimensions. Utilizing two identical cavities, the filter effectively suppresses both upper and lower sidebands, centered at 139 GHz with a relative bandwidth of 8.9%. The insertion loss within the passband is estimated to be below 0.5 dB, and the overall return loss exceeds 19 dB, demonstrating good design and performance.
