A Method for the Decoupling of Filtering Antennas Based on Coupled Resonator Network

This paper proposes a method to decouple filtering antennas, which introduces suitable cross coupling intentionally between resonator and source nodes. Thereby, the isolation between input ports is improved notably. To validate this approach, a pair of second-order filtering patch antennas operating in X -band is designed and simulated, with the corresponding coupled resonator model presented. The results demonstrate an isolation enhancement from 15 dB to 22 dB, accompanied by the appearance of two coupling nulls.

Abstract

This paper proposes a method to decouple filtering antennas, which introduces suitable cross coupling intentionally between resonator and source nodes. Thereby, the isolation between input ports is improved notably. To validate this approach, a pair of second-order filtering patch antennas operating in X -band is designed and simulated, with the corresponding coupled resonator model presented. The results demonstrate an isolation enhancement from 15 dB to 22 dB, accompanied by the appearance of two coupling nulls.
