High-Gain Slot Antenna Array Based on High-order Mode Cavity Resonators

This work introduces a cavity-backed slot antenna array with high gain utilizing high-order mode cavities. The proposed waveguide antenna includes two fundamental-mode resonant cavities and two TE<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">340</inf> mode cavities. One of the fundamental-mode cavities is designed as a power divider to distribute the power equally to the two high-order mode cavities. Two $3 \times 4$ slot arrays are constructed atop the TE<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">340</inf> mode cavities to form the radiation structures. The simulated results exhibit that this third-order antenna array has a -10 dB bandwidth of 9.93-10.08 GHz, equating to a fractional bandwidth of 1.5% for X-band applications. The maximum gain within the passband is 18.76 dBi.
