Investigation of Range Resolution Properties of Broadband Vortex Electromagnetic Waves
Different from single-frequency or narrow-band vortex electromagnetic waves, broadband vortex electromagnetic waves are expected to achieve high range resolution detection and imaging. Since the beam of the vortex electromagnetic wave diverges with different frequencies, its actual imaging resolution is different from that of the traditional plane wave. In this paper, the influence of bandwidth of on the range resolution of broadband vortex electromagnetic waves are numerically investigated. The results show that when the target is located in the main lobe of the vortex electromagnetic wave, the range resolution is close to that of the plane wave with the same bandwidth. While, when the target is located in the sidelobe region, range resolution of the broadband vortex electromagnetic wave will be deteriorated and the range resolution degradation is more severe as the bandwidth increase.
