Active Metasurfaces with Independent Switchable Transmission and Reflection in C- and X-Band

we propose a metasurface capable of independently switching between transmission and reflection states in C-band and X-band. The unit cell features a multi-layer structure, with symmetrical metal patches, PIN diodes, and dielectric substrates on the upper and lower layers, and air in the middle layer. By controlling the bias voltages of the two PIN diodes embedded in the metal patches, four operating states can be achieved, allowing independent control of the transmission and reflection properties in dual bands. Through theoretical analysis and simulation, we demonstrate the ability of the proposed metasurface to independently switch the transmission and reflection in C-band and X-band. We believe it has significant potential for applications in radar detection, communication, and cloaking.

Abstract

we propose a metasurface capable of independently switching between transmission and reflection states in C-band and X-band.
