A Decoupling-network-based Low Mutual Coupling Compact Patch Antenna
A decoupling-network-based low mutual coupling compact patch antenna is proposed in this paper. The antenna is composed of one rectangular dielectric substrate, two symmetry square patches printed on the top layer of the substrate, two microstrip lines and one decoupling network printed on the bottom layer. The decoupling network is composed of one rectangular ring and two “H”-shaped microstrip patches. By feeding one or two ports, the phase of the indirect coupling wave generated by the antenna with the decoupling network is opposite to that of the direct coupling wave generated by the antenna without the decoupling network. Therefore, although close is the distance between the two square patches, their mutual coupling can be decreased efficiently. Simulation results indicate that the decoupling network achieves the maximum 37.44 dB isolation enhancement at 14.45 GHz. Our work can be used in integrated circuits and wireless communication systems to reduce mutual coupling.
