A Ka-band Waveguide-to-Stripline Transition Structure With Thermal Dissipation Function

This paper addresses the feed requirements of high-power-density integrated phased array antennas, and designs a Kaband waveguide-to-stripline transition structure. To satisfy the heat dissipation issues arising from high power, the circuit structure is designed using a high-temperature co-fired ceramic process with high thermal conductivity. This approach integrates the electrical and thermal designs seamlessly through the use of a two-section metal waveguide structure. The transition structure achieves excellent transmission performance within the frequency range of 33-37 GHz. The VSWR is less than 2 and transmission loss is less than 0.6 dB. Fabrication and testing of the transition structure reveal good agreement between simulation and measurement results, making it well-suited for high-power-density integrated phased array antennas.
