Broadband Magnetoelectric Dipole Base Station Antenna Loaded With Metasurface
A broadband magnetoelectric(ME)dipole antenna loaded with metasurface is presented in this letter. The main radiating element of the antenna consists of two pairs of ME dipoles arranged in a cross configuration. Energy is coupled to the antenna through slots etched in the ground plane using microstrip lines. The metasurface is located above the electromagnetic dipoles and is printed on the upper surface of the substrate. The ME dipoles operate in the lower frequency band, while the metasurface operates in the upper frequency band. Measurement results demonstrate that the antenna exhibits an impedance bandwidth of $1.87-4.64 \mathrm{GHz}(85 \%)$ with a gain ranging from 7 to 10 dBi. In comparison to simulated results of $1.9-4.6 \mathrm{GHz}(83 \%)$ with a gain ranging from 7 to $11 \mathbf{d B i}$, the measured results are in good agreement with the simulation results and have a good application prospect.
