Full-Analytical Analysis Approach for Arbitrary Dipole Array and Its Application for Beamforming
An analysis approach is developed to compute the radiation patterns of dipole antenna arrays with arbitrary deployment based on the magnetic potential function method, in which the mutual couplings among the array elements are fully considered to ensure high-accuracy results. The proposed approach is numerically verified that it can generate accurate radiation patterns the same as those obtained by the commercial full-wave simulation but with very less time cost. Further, the proposed approach is extended to analyze the slot antenna arrays based on the duality theorem. A substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) slot array with flat-top beam is used for the demonstration, whose measured result agrees well with that obtained by the proposed method with a time-cost reduction of ${9 9. 6 \%}$ than fullwave simulation, showing the effectiveness and high efficiency of the proposed approach.
