Dual-Band Microstrip Annular Sector Patch Antenna for Land Vehicular Communications
A novel design approach to dual-band microstrip annular sector patch antenna (MASPA) is proposed. Multimode resonance concept is employed to design a dual-band microstrip patch antenna for vehicular communications at 3.5 GHz and 5.8 GHz. The fundamental and the third-order modes of a 113° annular sector patch antenna are excited and employed to realize dual-band operations. It is verified that the proposed antenna exhibits wide beamwidth characteristic at 3.5 GHz-band and backfire enhancement at 5.8GHz-band.
