Design of Load-modulated Balanced Amplifier Based on Broadband Output Matching Network
To meet the design requirements of broadband high back-off applications, a load modulated balanced amplifier (LMBA) based on broadband output matching network (OMN) was designed. By optimizing the OMN of the amplifier, the control amplifier and balanced amplifier can achieve high output powers with high efficiency over wider operating frequency band. A 1.4-2.8 GHz broadband LMBA was designed and implemented. The measurement results show that the power amplifier achieves a saturated output power of $43.7-44.3 \mathrm{dBm}$ in the operating frequency band, with a saturated efficiency of $64.6 \%-70.5 \%$, and an efficiency of $\mathbf{4 4. 9 \% - 5 0. 4 \%}$ at 10 dB back-off power.
