A Multiplicative Calderon Preconditioner For Generalized Impedance Boundary Condition

For a lossy conductor, when the skin depth is comparable with the size of the structure, the impedance boundary condition (IBC) is no longer valid and the generalized impedance boundary condition (GIBC) should be applied. In this work, a multiplicative Calderon preconditioner (CMP) is developed for GIBC to mitigate the dense-mesh breakdown in electromagnetic problems involving small conducting structures at low frequencies. Numerical results have validated the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract

For a lossy conductor, when the skin depth is comparable with the size of the structure, the impedance boundary condition (IBC) is no longer valid and the generalized impedance boundary condition (GIBC) should be applied. In this work, a multiplicative Calderon preconditioner (CMP) is developed for GIBC to mitigate the dense-mesh breakdown in electromagnetic problems involving small conducting structures at low frequencies. Numerical results have validated the effectiveness of the proposed method.
