Broadband Fixed-Beam Leaky Wave Antenna with Filtering Characteristics for Millimeter-Wave Applications
The leaky wave antenna (LWA) unit is designed based on magnetoelectric dipole (MED), and the leakage rate is controlled by changing the length of the bowtie slot, so that the designed antenna has low sidelobe characteristics. The leaky wave radiation parts use differential feed (DF) by the substrate integrated coaxial line (SICL). Due to the low dispersive characteristics of the SICL, a fixed-beam within a certain bandwidth is obtained, and the differential feeding eliminates the open stopband (OSB) at the broadside frequency. The bandpass filter structure is integrated into the path feeding the inverted signal without increasing the overall volume of the antenna. The antenna can obtain a fixed radiation beam in the frequency range of $26.8-29.2 \mathrm{GHz}$, with a total efficiency of over $90 \%$ and a realized gain of over 15 dBi and the peak realized gain is 16.2 dBi.
