Design of a 2.45-GHz High-Efficiency Rectenna with Harmonic Control
In this paper, a 2.45 GHz compact high-efficiency rectenna with Class-R operating mode is proposed for wireless power transfer. It eliminates the impedance matching network (IMN) between the antenna and the rectifier. Moreover, the antenna integrating a dumbbell-shaped defected ground structure (DGS) is capable of controlling the harmonics on the rectifying diode to make it work in Class-R mode, thereby reducing the diode loss for high power conversion efficiency (PCE). As a result, the rectenna can obtain a maximum PCE of $\mathbf{6 7. 2 \%}$ at an input power of -2.8 dBm.
