Status and Perspectives of the AMoRE Experiment

AMoRE (Advanced Mo based Rare process Experiment) is an experiment to search for neutrinoless double-beta decay of $${}^{100}$$ Mo using scintillating molybdate crystals with metallic magnetic calorimeters as low temperature sensors. The AMoRE-pilot phase using six calcium molybdate crystals installed at YangYang underground laboratory (Y2L) successfully finished and demonstrated the feasibility of the experiment. The AMoRE-I, which is the first stage of the experiment with 6.2 kg of calcium and lithium molybdate crystals, was also installed in the Y2L and completed in April 2023. The results from AMoRE-I and preparation of the AMoRE-II phase are presented. AMoRE-II main phase experiment, using $${\sim}157$$ kg of crystals, will be installed at newly constructed Yemi underground laboratory (Yemilab). The goal of AMoRE-II phase is to get a limit of T $${}^{0\nu}_{1/2}$$ > 4 $$\times$$ 10 $${}^{26}$$ years at 90 $$\%$$ C.L. with 500 kg $${{}^{100}}$$ Mo $$\times$$ year exposure which corresponds to an effective Majorana neutrino mass in the range of m $${}_{\beta\beta}\leq(0.020{-}0.035)$$ eV.
