Z Boson Contribution into the Muon Pair Production in Proton–Proton Collisions

We consider the dimuon production in proton–proton collision which happen at LHC via photon and $$Z$$ fusion. Analytical formulas for the cross section of the reaction $$pp\to p(\gamma Z)X\to p\mu\mu X$$ are provided and the comparison with the $$pp\to p(\gamma\gamma)X\to p\mu\mu X$$ process is performed.

Abstract

We consider the dimuon production in proton–proton collision which happen at LHC via photon and $$Z$$ fusion. Analytical formulas for the cross section of the reaction $$pp\to p(\gamma Z)X\to p\mu\mu X$$ are provided and the comparison with the $$pp\to p(\gamma\gamma)X\to p\mu\mu X$$ process is performed.
