Application of BIM technology and optimized methodology in terrain design and accurate earthwork estimation in Kunming Airport Extension Project

During the design phase of the Kunming Airport extension project, BIM technology was applied to support the mega-scale terrain design and the analysis of earthwork quantities statistics. This paper aims to introduce the methodology we used in the project, including the customization of the BIM platform and the redesign of the mathematical model. The methodology involved in the project provides a reference for implementing BIM technology in future airport design and construction.
