Oxygen-vacancy-abundant amorphous layer and Dual-doping strategy enabling superior electrochemical performance in Li-rich materials

Abstract To meet the rapid development demands of high-energy Li-ion batteries, this paper presents a strategy for a Co- and Ni-free single-crystal Li-rich cathode via a high-speed temperature rise sintering method. By constructing an oxygen-vacancy-abundant amorphous layer on the surface and inducing dual-ion doping in the bulk phase, this research aims to optimize the irreversible oxygen loss, voltage decay, and poor cycling stability of single-crystal Li-rich Mn-based materials. Testing results indicate that the prepared material exhibits an initial discharge capacity of 342.1 mAh g −1 and capacity retention of 76.2% after 800 cycles, and the gas generation and voltage decay are also significantly reduced.
