Performance of copper-based amorphous alloys for degradability of azo dyes using electrochemical methods
Abstract In the area of the catalytic degradability of azo dyes, amorphous alloys are increasingly attracting a wide range of interest from research scholars. The electrochemical method is characterized by cleanliness and high efficiency, but the high energy consumption of this method limits its application. However, the use of amorphous alloys as electrodes for wastewater degradation is highly efficient. In this paper, an electrochemical method was applied to degrade acid orange using copper-based amorphous alloy as electrode medium, and the effects of current density, pH value, and other factors on the efficiency of degradation were investigated. The final results show that the degradation rate reaches 99.85 % in 40 min when the pH of the initial solution is 7 and the current density is 11.9 mA/cm 2 . Therefore, copper-based amorphous alloy strips as electrode material have a good degradation effect on acid orange by electrochemical method and have good corrosion resistance and cyclic stability, which has a broad application prospect in degrading azo dye wastewater.
