Polyurethane porous elastomeric mixture composition design and aging properties

Abstract Polyurethane Porous Elastic Road Surface (PERS) has the characteristics of energy saving, emission reduction, carbon reduction, drainage, noise reduction, and de-icing. However, the aging properties of PERS have been rarely studied. The optimal gradation of the polyurethane mixtures has been designed in this paper. The concentration of polyurethane has been determined as 4.1%. Through scatter tests and segregation leakage tests, we analyzed the variation curves of the void ratio. Under aging conditions of thermo-oxidative, humid-heat, and without aging, through seepage test and wave tube test, the drainage function and noise performance have been studied in this paper. It has been found that under humid-thermal and thermo-oxidative aging procedures, the void ratio of mixtures increases by 1.2% and 1.4%, respectively. The sound absorption coefficient of mixtures was reduced by 7% and 10.9%, respectively. The water permeability coefficient of mixtures increased by 15.0% and 18.3%, respectively.
