The effect of palladium element on the performance of gold-based friction pairs in slip rings
Abstract A slip ring is an electrical connector that enables signal and power transmission between the stator and rotor. This experiment explores the effect of adding palladium element on the electrical and frictional properties of gold-based friction pairs in slip rings. The results indicate that the gold-based friction pairs in slip rings with added palladium element have an improvement in wear resistance. The wear rate of the brush wire with the added palladium element decreased by 4.0% compared to the brush wire without the addition. By improving the wear resistance, the electrical performance of the gold-based fiction pair with added palladium element was significantly improved compared to the fiction without added palladium element at the same number of turns.
