Study on fracture/deformation failure behavior of a TC4 titanium alloy coupling bolt
Abstract A pressure vessel used 24 TC4 titanium alloy M16×70 bolts to connect the combustion chamber and the rear head. While, the bolts fractured/deformed during the pressure test. The mechanism was confirmed through several methods including calculation, simulation, and test. Then, the problem was completely solved by conducting comprehensive optimization measures including replacing the bolt’s material, increasing the bolt’s quantities and specifications, and improving the connection structure.
