Osobe s invaliditetom u pravničkoj struci: Perspektiva Republike Hrvatske

One of the most common problems for people with disabilities is employment, since prejudice, limited abilities and practical reasons significantly influence their employability. Despite the recognition of this problem, as well as the fact that many legal acts have been adopted that regulate this issue, the effect of legal provisions and numerous adopted strategies remains questionable. This paper thus investigates the position of persons with disabilities in the Republic of Croatia, focusing primarily on the representation and the possibility of advancement of such persons in the legal profession, which in general can be described as insufficiently inclusive. The paper first analyses the relevant legal framework, taking into accountboth national and international sources. Afterwards it illustrates the reality of the possibilities and difficulties faced by persons with disabilities in the legal profession. Based on the conducted analysis, it is concluded that the general issue of employment and inclusion of persons with disabilities is sufficiently regulated by law; however, spatial, psychological and social barriers can still lead to unsatisfactory results.
